The Smokehouse Story
The Smokehouse Hospitality program, which includes the Restaurant, Catering Services, The Smokehouse On The Run Food trailer and Hall Rentals, is a part of the Smokehouse Kitchen Training Program, a four month culinary arts/ hospitality employment training program.
About the Program
The Smokehouse Kitchen Program gives our participants basic culinary fundamentals and an improved quality of life and a sense of well-being while returning them to the workforce. Our participants also gain valuable experience as team players and role models for themselves. We have found that our program provides a better life for Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal participants
The Program provides participants with the necessary information, tools, and the support they need when exploring, seeking, securing or re-entering the Food Service and Hospitality Industry. In addition, our participants receive employment assistant services that include: career planning; job skills; interest; job leads; skills development; and in most cases job placement and employment support resources,
We provide participants with the skills and determination required to gain and maintain entry-level positions in the hospitality or food service industry and to exceed the expectations of our clientele with an extraordinary emphasis on the individual. The Smokehouse Kitchen Program does this by providing the individual with a hands on and friendly approach.
This training program follows a Cook’s Level One Curriculum and provides participants with work experience in the hospitality and food service industry. During their time here participants receive valuable hands on experience in all aspects of the hospitality industry from working beside industry trained professionals in our main kitchen, to working front of house with experienced staff in our restaurant and catering.
